The key factors of the project of the New Maternal and Infantile Building, obtained through an integrated clinical management meta-design approach, are: – Sizing the structure and its sub-services starting from the design of the clinical-managerial processes and their relationships in order to guarantee the correspondence of the project to the clinical-health needs of the structure’s operation; – Create a flexible structure suited to the needs of the organization, constantly destined to vary over time, depending on the changing needs of the population, the progress of medicine and diagnosis and treatment techniques; – Ensure the centrality of the patient, or respond in a targeted way to the specific need for care and health of the person; – Develop the conditions for a high degree of effectiveness and efficiency of the care, assistance and support processes; – Ensure high safety conditions for patients and operators, thanks to the care of the layout of the rooms and the study of functional relationships capable of enhancing working ergonomics and organizational well-being; – Guarantee the coherence of the Project with the regional and national legislation of the sector, with the regional regulations regarding the authorization and accreditation of the functioning of health structures, with the territorial planning, as well as with the safety and hygiene standards at work. The building will be placed in a large area and will have pedestrian access, road connection and parking and will be divided into 5 floors in which the departments, functions and activities will be punctually located. A fundamental element that distinguishes the design of the spaces is that of an effective flexibility of the hospitalization spaces in the obstetric-neonatal area, which, even if the number of authorized and accredited beds is maintained, can provide for a diversified use of the technical stations to facilitate : – the management of occasional / seasonal peaks of hospitalization flows; – the mandatory isolation and / or cohorting activities in case of infections in Neonatology; – the guarantee of structural and technological characteristics designed to ensure high standards of quality, safety and hotel comfort also for daytime services in favor of outpatients; so-called “Family-centered Care” reception and care solutions.
