The area identified for the new hospital of Narni-Amelia is located in the former San Pellegirno quarry area. The idea is to design a hospital as personal care but also as a mending and redevelopment of the territory. It was decided to make the earth movements and consolidations, however necessary in the quarry face, coincide with the construction of the new complex which in some way artificially reconstitutes the ancient face of the hill. A complete integration between redevelopment and low environmental impact that is summarized in positioning itself in the area already degraded and made unstable by the mining activity rather than inserting itself in the overlying agricultural area still intact, as indicated in the Feasibility Study. The local hospital unit responds to incentivizing treatments in a planned, extensive regime, guaranteeing access to continuity care cycles, which start from the general practitioner up to integrate and enhance themselves with post-rehabilitation home assistance. The model of the new hospital is mainly characterized by: capacity and complexity of performance in the face of a limited capacity of the hospitalization area quality and graduation of the intensity of hospitalization assistance containment of the average hospitalization time continuity of care even in post-hospitalization development of outpatient and daytime performance (DH, DS) high structural flexibility and use intended as an aggregation of functional models, as a relationship between functional areas in relation to technologies small size and compactness of the structure with path optimization organization for care processes contiguity of the most used services in the context of diagnosis and treatment paths flow optimization safety and risk containment The project is able to respond to the new health needs induced by the changes taking place in society: the aging of the population, the rapid evolution of medicine, the development of outpatient care, the growth of consumer expectations regarding the quality of the system, the development of specialized centers of excellence, the search for effectiveness and efficiency in the management of hospital facilities.
